LE MANS WINNER JAGUAR D-TYPE TOPS SALE

The historic Jaguar D-Type race car was sold at the RM Sotheby’s sale in California for USD 21,780,000. The D-Type which raced to victory at the famous 24 Hours Le Mans in 1956 was part of the Scottish racing team ‘Ecurie Ecosse’. It surpassed the previous record of a British car sold at an auction, which was held by a 1963 Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato which went for USD 14.3 million last year.

WORLD RECORD FOR PADAMSEE'S ‘GREEK LANDSCAPE’

At the Saffronart evening sale in New Delhi, the winning bid for ‘Greek Landscape’ by Akbar Padamsee was INR 19.19 cr., the highest for a Padamsee work till date. The famed modern Indian artist who once said "Grey is without prejudice, it does not discriminate between object and space” painted the canvas depicting a Greek cityscape in 1960.

RARE CUT GLASS AND BRASS CHANDELIERS

At the Bonhams Home & Interiors sale in London, a Pair of Large and Impressive Cut Glass and Brass Chandeliers were sold for GBP 12,500. The Mid-20th century chandeliers, each surmounted by a coronet with chains of faceted drops and eighteen lights were estimated at GBP 7,000-10,000 and were the top lot of the sale.
