One of Britain’s top polo players, Max Charlton started playing polo at the age of 12. Now at 26, Max is one of just three English players currently playing off a handicap of 7 goals. A well-established member of the English team, he will be seen representing his country yet again in the Coronation Cup later this month at Guards Polo Club. Appointed as Land Rover’s first polo player ambassador in 2015, Max is widely regarded as one of the most promising home grown talents that the sport has seen for some time. He was named the “Most Outstanding British Professional” at the Annual Polo Awards in May for the third time. He is playing with the Black Bears, in the ongoing British season and the team won the 18 goal Apsley Cup and the Bledisloe Warwickshire Cup in Cirencester.
Polo Life had a brief interview with Max and here is what he said:
MC: There are lots of memorable moments but I loved playing in the Coronation Cup last year and winning MVP.
MC: I have been proud to represent England over 30 times on the polo field, on the snow and in the arena and it’s always a privilege and an honour.
MC: I love cars so I follow Formula 1. I also love to support England in the rugby.
MC: Being named Land Rover's first polo ambassador means a huge amount to me. Land Rover has over 30 year's heritage within the equestrian sport and it's wonderful to be part of its team of ambassadors, alongside the likes of Zara Tindall and Ben Maher.
MC: Cristiano Ronaldo. He takes his fitness and football very seriously and I admire his attitude.
MC: I had the most amazing time in India. Fantastic hospitality and I hope to go back very soon.
