Ten teams entered this popular fast-paced, 15 goal tournament which was played at Coworth Park. Four Quarters Orange won the first semi-final of the tournament defeating Kildare/Jaipur by 6-4. The second semi-final was won by their stablemates Four Quarters Black who had an easy win against Emlor winning by 11-6½. The two finalists put on a great display of polo in front of a packed stand and in the end it was the Blacks who kept their nerve to defeat their opponents to take home the Coworth Park Challenge Trophy. The Black team, patroned by Romilla Arber, got the better of her husband Simon's Orange squad in the battle for the trophy, winning the match 11-9 goals. However, although Romilla was the winning patron, she was more than happy to let her number four, John Paul Clarkin, step forward to collect the giant trophy.
