The FDCI India Couture Week started with a bang as ace designer Manish Malhotra took the floor with his “Persian Story”, and the dapper Fawad Khan and svelte Deepika Padukone slayed as the showstoppers. A week-long extravaganza with eleven couturiers showcasing their very best saw the likes of Tarun Tahiliani, Anita Dongre, Anamika Khanna, Varun Bahl, Rimple & Harpreet Narula presenting their collections. Before the closing show of Bal’s, actress Kangana Ranaut looked every inch a “Mughal” empress as she walked for Manav Gangwani in his creation from the collection titled 'Begum-e-Jannat'. The India Couture Week had a befitting finale with stunning ensembles by India’s true connoisseur of luxury and veteran style guru Rohit Bal. Inspired by the grandeur of the Czarist Regime of Russia, his collection was deeply entrenched in the unmitigated philosophy of extreme luxury. Regarding his show Bal said, “This opulence has been interpreted and translated by me with my innate sense of understated glamour and elegance”. “Kehkashan” as the show was titled means the highest place in the galaxy. The designer collaborated with Shri Ram Hari Ram Jewelers, showcasing his alluring collection inspired by the royal Courts of Czarist Russia. Sunil Sethi, President, FDCI, said, “The five-day fiesta will be tribute to luxury and will pen a new story of grandeur in keeping with the aesthetics of Indian traditions”. All in all, the Couture Week showcased ornate creations with intricate craftsmanship by some of the most coveted designers of the country.
