From ‘Made in Assam’ to a ‘Plus-size Show’ to ‘Bridal Wear’ and with top designers using different textiles from across the country, the Lakmé Fashion Week showcased the increasing diversity in the Indian fashion industry.
The five-day gala, which eventuated at the uptown entertainment district of St. Regis Lower Parel, kicked-off celebrating designers including Masaba Gupta, Nachiket Barve, Rahul Mishra and more. The real deal of the Winter/Festive fashion showcase, began day two onwards, featuring sustainable fashion and Indian textiles. The 2016 edition of India’s foremost bi-annual fashion treat featured the best of creativity with Indian textiles, first time features from the North-eastern states, debut ramp walks, interesting and bold hair and make-up trends and so on.
Apart from out-of-the-box creativity on ramp by gen-next and renowned designers including Tarun Tahiliani, Ashish Soni, Manish Malhotra, Sabyasachi, the week-long fashion extravaganza saw plenty of Bollywood glamour light up the runway. Celebs who were present to either walk for or check out their favourite designer’s Winter/Festive collections were Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Bipasha Basu, Deepika Padukone, Dia Mirza, Sayani Gupta, Jacqueline Fernandez, Malaika Arora Khan amongst others.
